Mizrahi's The One sees its last non-repetitive level dump | City Toronto

Little by little, Mizrahi Developments' The One is getting closer and closer to becoming the first super high-rise building to add luster to the Toronto sky. Last month, the walls of the fifth floor of this uniquely designed tower collapsed. This month, its sixth floor has been poured and leveled. UrbanToronto forum writer Thaivic recorded every step along the way in their office at 2 Bloor West.

According to the building plan developed, the sixth floor is the last non-repetitive floor in the tower. This means that once the tables for the 7th floor (the first floor of the hotel) are created, the following floors will be able to be formed at a faster rate because these tables will be reused layer by layer. The mechanical floor and apartment floor will again require new forms.

In early November, we saw the construction team laying 6 layers of steel bars on its steel deck. The complex grid of steel bars strengthens the concrete slab, giving it considerable strength. At the top of the photo above, you can see that some concrete has been poured because the staff continues to work on the steel bars near the bottom of the image.

After a while, more concrete pouring took place, and the staff are now working to ensure that it is evenly distributed on the slab, submerging the recently laid steel bars. We can see the bright red concrete pump south of the water level, and its telescopic arm can reach the part where the staff needs it next.

As we can see below, the staff uses a mortar machine, a wide flat-bladed tool, which can push, pull, level and smooth liquid concrete.

Finally, the 6th layer was completely and evenly covered by poured concrete, waiting to be cured. Looking ahead, the 6th floor will be the shared facility floor for hotels and apartments, and the upcoming 7th floor will be the first of 10 floors, which will house hotel suites.

The 17th and 18th floors will be the mechanical kits on the lower floors of the building, followed by the residential floor—with another set of repeated layouts—starting on the 19th floor.

The One was designed by British architects Foster + Partners and Core Architects of Toronto. It is 85 stories high and 308.6 meters high. The building is one of two projects currently vying for the title of Canada's tallest building, as well as the 312.5-meter SkyTower at Pinnacle One Yonge, which is currently in the early stages of construction, just a few kilometers from the south.

Mizrahi Developments has applied for an increase in the height and density of The One to 94 floors and 338.3 meters high. If allowed to increase, The One will set a record for the tallest building in the country.
